Sherwood Mayor Launches Sherwood Progress Board- New Advisory Board Modeled After Pendleton Board
Mayor Keith Mays is launching the Sherwood Progress Board, a new advisory board to weigh in on issues that are generally outside the scope of Sherwood's standing boards and commissions.
It will be comprised of local business men and women, local economic development groups (Chamber of Commerce, Sherwood Main Street, Westside Economic Alliance, etc.) as well as representatives from our many local and regional organizations that impact our community (school district, Washington County, Metro, City Council, Urban Renewal, ODOT, local foundations & organizations, public safety organizations, utilities, etc.) . Many of the invitees will be individuals that are generally not already involved with other city boards and commissions to help expand the reach into the Sherwood community.
"I have been excited about this concept since learning about it from Pendleton Mayor Phil Houk last year, but with staff changes and other initiatives, it needed to wait until City Manager Joe Gall came on board", said Mayor Keith Mays. "Sherwood is a great city and a destination community thanks to the hard work of so many individuals and organization in town. This advisory group will assist me and the city council as they give input and/or recommendations on a wide scope of subjects."
The process to recruit members for the new Sherwood Progress Board will begin later this month. For more information, please contact Mayor Mays at 503.625.4246.
