A 71-year old Oregon City man is in critical condition this morning following a Wednesday evening motorcycle crash off Highway 99E about one mile north of Aurora. Oregon State Police (OSP) is investigating the cause of the crash.
On July 11, 2012 at approximately 7:11 p.m., a 2007 Rewaco three-wheel motorcycle operated by MAURICE H. CHAMP JR, age 71, from Oregon City, was northbound on Highway 99E near milepost 24. For an undetermined reason, the motorcycle drifted to the right and traveled off the highway where it struck a highway sign and came to rest upside down in berry bushes.
CHAMP was initially treated on scene by Aurora Fire District and Canby Fire District #62 personnel before being taken by LifeFlight to Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU). He was wearing a protective helmet. According to OHSU, he is in critical condition Thursday morning.
OSP Senior Trooper Jason Bledsoe is the lead investigator. OSP was assisted at the scene by the above listed fire departments and Canby Police Department.
