- Enjoy a day full of fun, community activities and events in celebration of Beaverton on Saturday, August 27.The Beaverton Celebration day kicks-off at 8 a.m. with the Family Fun Run, continues throughout the afternoon ending with the Old Town Festival at 4 p.m. All activities and events will be held in the downtown (Old Town) and central Beaverton areas.
"The five events of the Beaverton Celebration Day truly bring our entire community together," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "It's a chance to celebrate our vibrant and welcoming city along side family, friends and neighbors."

Inaugural Family Fun Run
Grab your Nikes and head to Griffith Park for a quick, flat course that winds through the streets of Beaverton before finishing up along the City's Celebration Parade route. The 5K Family Run / Walk and 1 Mile Student Run / Walk begins at 8 a.m. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Registration is provided through Race Center Northwest ($10 all ages). All proceeds will benefit the Beaverton School District's lunch program. The 54th annual Beaverton's Celebration Parade
The 2011 parade, themed "Just Imagine," starts at the Beaverton Christian Church on Allen Boulevard at 10 a.m. and travels through the streets of downtown Beaverton. This year's Parade Grande Marshall is Bruce Murdock of K103 with on-air friends John Erickson and Janine Wolf. It features more than100 entries, including bands, floats, mascots, antique vehicles and more. The parade also will honor the 2011 Service to Beaverton Award winners. The Parade concludes downtown at SW Broadway and Hall Boulevard, kicking-off the Old Town Festival. Streets near to the parade route will be closed at 9 a.m. Handicap parking for the parade is located at the Beaverton City Library, Farmer's Market and First United Methodist Church.
Beaverton Old Town Festival
Enjoy an afternoon of family summer fun from noon to 4 p.m. at the Beaverton Old Town Festival located at SW Broadway and SW Hall Boulevard. The Beaverton Old Town Festival will feature live music, the Bite of Beaverton food fair, kid's fun center, a vintage car show, street fair with local artists, and more. Attendees can also participate in Beaverton Bakery's Pie Eating Contest, in which a portion of all the proceeds will go to local area non-profits.
Beaverton Community Vision
Stop by for an update on the award-winning Beaverton Community Vision project. The Beaverton Community Vision is a public involvement process in which more than 5,000 residents shared their goals and hopes for Beaverton's future. Everyone is invited to learn more about what the 60 community partners are doing to make our community's vision a reality. Activities include free balloons, kids' games, prizes and more. The Vision event is located at SW Washington between 1st and 3rd Streets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bike Beaverton
Buckle up your bike helmet and join the Bicycle Advisory Committee for the fourth annual Bike Beaverton at 1 p.m. in Schiffler Park (SW Erickson Avenue just north of SW Allen Boulevard). Festivities begin with a bike rodeo hosted by the Beaverton Police Department. Representatives from the Northwest Bicycle Safety Council will be on hand to inspect and fit participant's bike helmets. Mechanics from the Bike Gallery and Bike N' Hike will check participant's bikes and make minor adjustments. Mayor Doyle will once again lead the six-mile, family-friendly bike ride beginning at 2 p.m. The ride and event conclude with a free ice cream social and live music.
Parking/Shuttle Info
Free parking is available at several nearby locations: the former Beaverton Kia (SW Farmington & Hocken), Beaverton City Hall (4755 SW Griffith Drive), and the Westgate Property (SW Cedar Hills and Millikan). A free shuttle service will be available from the Westgate Property to the Old Town Festival. Attendees are encouraged to use TriMet throughout the day; many stops including the MAX station near the Round are within a few blocks walk to all the events.
