Three people are facing charges after search warrants were served two separate Grant County locations Tuesday by Oregon State Police (OSP) with the assistance of John Day Police Department, Grant County Sheriff's Office, Baker County Drug Task Force and Grant County District Attorney's Office. The investigation led by Trooper Tom Hutchinson focused on the unlawful manufacture, distribution and possession of marijuana.
According to OSP Master Sergeant Gordon Larson, search warrants were served on August 16, 2011 at two Grant County indoor marijuana grow sites. The first warrant was served at the residence of DREW ERWIN HARMER, age 51, located at 167 Ingle Street in Mt. Vernon. More than 65 marijuana plants and nearly 20 pounds of dried marijuana worth approximately $40,000 were seized, along with numerous items of evidentiary value related to the manufacture and distribution of marijuana.
HARMER was arrested and lodged on numerous charges including Unlawful Possession, Distribution and Manufacture of Marijuana.
The second search warrant was served at a Canyon City residence occupied by JOHN C. DENTON, age 67, and JOHNNY JOSEPH LANE, age 58, where officers seized more than 60 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Equipment for growing and manufacturing marijuana was also seized.
LANE was lodged in the Grant County Jail for Unlawful Possession, Distribution and Manufacture of Marijuana. DENTON was cited and released for Unlawful Manufacture of Marijuana.
The investigation is continuing into additional marijuana grows.
