Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into a two vehicle head-on crash Wednesday morning on Highway 22W near Dallas that resulted in non-life threatening injuries to two men. Icy roadway conditions were a contributing factor in this crash as well as several others that happened this morning in that area.

According to OSP Trooper Carlos Barrientos, on January 19, 2011 at approximately 7:07 a.m. a 2002 Ford Mustang driven by ROY M. PEREZ, age 44, from Sheridan, was westbound on Highway 22W near milepost 9 in the left lane when it lost control on a patch of black ice. The Ford crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer driven by WAYNE F. HANCOCK, age 66, from Tillamook.

PEREZ and passenger PHILLIP S. IRWIN, age 36, from Salem, were transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both were using safety restraints and the car's airbags deployed.

HANCOCK declined medical attention and was using safety restraints.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Polk County Sheriff's Office, Polk County Fire District #1, and ODOT. The highway was closed nearly an hour.

Barrientos also investigated a minor injury crash at the scene after a motorist lost control on the icy roadway and rolled over in a ditch. Several other traffic crashes were reported during the morning in the area related to icy conditions.
