CHILOQUIN MAN ARRESTED AFTER DRIVE BY SHOOTING, PURSUIT - KLAMATH COUNTY

On November 24, 2015, at about 4:30PM, Klamath County 911 received a report of a person firing an "AK-47" at a residence on Day School Road, near Chiloquin. The suspect was reported to be leaving the scene in a white Dodge pickup.

Troopers from the Klamath Falls Area Command and deputies from the Klamath County Sheriff's Office began responding to the scene. Troopers located the vehicle on Highway 97, at Telephone Flat Road

When troopers attempted to stop the white Dodge pickup, the driver attempted to elude them.
Troopers pursued the Dodge pickup eastbound on Telephone Flat Road for several miles. The pickup subsequently crashed and the driver fled into a wooded ravine. A semi-automatic rifle was recovered in the pickup.

Police searched the area and located the suspect hiding in thick brush. The suspect was identified as Stephen Ray SORENSEN, age 27, of Chiloquin. He was arrested and lodged at the Klamath County Jail on the following charges:

* Unlawful Use of a Weapon
* Menacing x 2
* Felon in Possession of a Firearm
* Recklessly Endangering x 6
* Interference with Making a Report
* Attempt to Elude -- Felony
* Attempt to Elude -- Misdemeanor
* Reckless Driving
