On August 19, 2015 at about 10:15AM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of single vehicle crash on Hwy 97 near milepost 104 (near Culver).

Preliminary information indicates a 1997 Subaru Wagon was traveling southbound on Highway 97, when for unknown reasons it drifted out of it's lane and struck the beginning of a guardrail. The operator, Robert G TOPLIFF, age 36, of Redmond, was pronounced deceased on scene. The passenger, Allen P TOLER, age 29, of Salem, was transported to St. Charles Hospital in Madras with minor injuries.

Fatigue is being investigated as the primary contributing factor. OSP was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Jefferson County Fire and Rescue. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released when it is available.
