The Klickitat County Sheriff's Office has issued level 3 evacuation notices for approximately 25 homes in and around Roosevelt, Washington. The Red Cross has re-opened the shelter at the Bickleton School, 3626 Bickleton Highway in Bickleton.
The American Red Cross advocates disaster preparedness and has a wide range of mobile apps (www.redcross.org/mobile-apps/) that provide information about what to do before, during and after disasters such as wildfires.
"The app lists specific and simple steps such as meeting with family members to discuss what to do in case of a wildfire, what to pack and where to meet up if evacuated," says Melinda McGoldrick, preparedness and partnerships manager for the Red Cross Cascades Region. "It also includes specific safety information such as how to turn off gas, water and electric utilities."
