At 2:40pm today, an employee at Kayu International Inc. at 11117 SW Greenburg Road in Tigard reported an accident involving a forklift. Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue confirmed that a forklift hit a structural support post which caused a partial collapse of the 15,000 Square foot building. Due to building instability and the number of occupants at the location, th e incident commander called a second alarm to bring additional firefighters to assist with evacuations.

A total of 120 people were evacuated from both Kayu International Inc. and adjacent business Sky High Sports. The forklift operator was transported via Metro West to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Crews remain on scene and are working with an engineer from the City of Tigard to evaluate the structure and prepare the unstable roof for rain.
