Brief electricity outage in Klamath Falls set April 21 to finalize repair work from last week's outage

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Approximately 1,200 Pacific Power customers in central Klamath Falls will have their electricity interrupted early Tuesday morning, April 21 so crews may finalize repair work at a local substation that was damaged last week due to animal interference.

The outage is scheduled to begin early Tuesday morning just after midnight, and last until approximately 3 a.m. The substation experienced extensive damage Apr. 14 resulting in an outage that lasted several hours. Repairs at the time were adequate to serve customers safely, but new equipment being installed during the planned outage will assure reliability into the future.

The outage will affect the area east of Washburn Way, south of South 6th Street, north of the Southside Bypass and west of Hope Street.

Customers in the affected area have been notified individually about the outage.

Street lights will be out in the area and Pacific Power reminds anyone traveling in the area that time of morning to take extra care.

"We want to thank our customers ahead of time for their patience," said Todd Andres, regional community manager. "Upgrading the substation equipment will improve reliability and should make for fewer and shorter outages in the future."

If customers have questions about the planned outage, they can call Pacific Power at 1-888-221-7070. Any outages during that time in other parts of the community should continue to be reported to Pacific Power at 1-877-508-5088.
