February 18, 2015--Sheriff's Deputies will provide extra patrols on Washington County roadways to enhance safety for weekend travelers.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office would like everyone to have a safe and enjoyable driving experience and will be providing extra patrols focused on impaired driving during the weekend for travelers. The Sheriff's Office has zero tolerance for impaired drivers that place themselves and others in harms way.

Sheriff's Deputies will also be providing enforcement of drivers who are speeding, following too closely, and distracted while using mobile communication devices.

These extra patrols are funded by a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration grant obtained through the Department of Transportation. The Washington County Sheriff's Office has a goal to reduce the number of impaired drivers on the roads, reduce crashes and save lives. The Washington County Sheriff's Office reminds people to have a safe traveling experience and designate a sober driver before the celebration begins.

This is one of several sponsored traffic safety missions. The results will be provided at the conclusion of this traffic safety mission.
