BEND, Ore., Feb. 24, 2015 -- Community members are invited to learn about services delivered by their local American Red Cross and how to participate in community preparedness, outreach, health and safety activities at an upcoming open house event. Information will be shared and volunteer recruitment will be in effect.
Laurie Conroy, director of volunteer services for the American Red Cross Cascades Region says that volunteer opportunities are available in a wide variety of areas including home fire safety outreach, disaster preparedness, event organization, disaster health services and more.

WHEN: 3 - 6 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015
WHERE: Prodigal Son Brewery (private room), 230 SE Court Ave. in Pendleton, Ore.
DETAILS: Participants will receive an overview of Red Cross services in the local community, learn about training opportunities and discuss a variety of volunteer openings.
The American Red Cross Cascades Region has approximately 1,700 volunteers across Oregon and Southwest Washington. Last year they provided assistance to more than 900 individuals and families affected by disasters as a result of home fires, wildfires, floods and severe weather.
