Gresham, Ore. - On Tuesday Feb. 17 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Portland Police Bureau's Officer Charles Asheim was involved in a non-injury shooting at Southwest 11th Avenue and Southwest Highland Drive, Gresham. Officer Asheim has worked with the Bureau for six years and is assigned to the Gang Enforcement Team. His team was working with the Metro Gang Task Force at the time of the shooting, trying to apprehend wanted gang associate Ryan Matthew Sudlow (pictured).

Sudlow and his female passenger, Shaelyn Raschelle Ooms, 26, of Portland, drove to the Safeway Fuel Station on Highland Drive where they were stopped by the gang teams. Officer Asheim fired his service weapon while attempting to stop and arrest Sudlow for an outstanding warrant. Sudlow was ultimately taken into custody without further incident and is currently lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center. Ooms was questioned and released.

The East County Major Crimes Team is investigating the shooting.
