BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Beaverton City Library is hosting a free workshop on the GrantSelect database on Tuesday, March 10 from 4-5:30 p.m. in Meeting Rooms A and B at the main library (12375 SW 5th Street). GrantSelect is an online database of grant funding opportunities. Register for the event at http://conta.cc/1CyxXge. Space is limited to 75 people.
"Rather than sorting through the vast and chaotic web, GrantSelect uses a standardized format making it easier to compare the requirements of various grants side-by-side," said Abigail Elder, library director.
GrantSelect updates its grant records daily and allows users to investigate a broad range of current funding available for independent researchers, universities, government organizations, and nonprofits. Content covers several topics, including art, culture, humanities, children and youth, community education, faith-based groups, scholarships, minority populations, and operating expenses, among others. Learn more about GrantSelect by visiting www.BeavertonOregon.gov/GrantSelect or visit the Reference Desk at the main library.
Until now, researchers who wished to find grants at a library would have to go to Portland to access databases from the Central Library's Foundation Center or libraries at major universities. In addition to geographic barriers, many grant-seeking organizations face financial barriers that prevent them from investing in their own grant directories. Thanks to GrantSelect, patrons at the Beaverton City Library now have access to a local resource for those seeking a convenient and affordable solution to their funding challenges.
For more information, please contact Jill Adams at 503-650-3613 or jadams@BeavertonOregon.gov.
The Beaverton City Library serves more than 780,000 patrons a year at its main location and Murray Scholls branch. Each day, the library strives to improve the lives of children and families throughout the city. Last year, the library received a 92 percent approval rating from Beaverton residents. Funding from the WCCLS library levy renewal has played a key role in allowing the Beaverton City Library and all Washington County libraries to help the community to learn and grow together.
For additional information regarding Beaverton City Library services, visit www.BeavertonLibrary.org or call 503-644-2197. The Beaverton City Library is one of fifteen libraries in the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) that work communally to provide excellent countywide library service by sharing valuable resources and information with one another.
