West Linn Police arrested 30 year old Mark Edward Hardy Jr, on Saturday December 20 following a brief vehicle pursuit which began on I205 near Hwy 213. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed his car into a pole at Sunnyside Road near SE Misty Drive.

West Linn Officer Jim Abeles was working an ODOT funded grant targeting impaired drivers on Saturday morning. At about 3:32 am Officer Abeles attempted to stop Hardy, a wanted subject out of Portland, on suspicion of DUII. Hardy had failed to appear for sentencing on a Perjury conviction which stemmed from his involvement in the shooting death of Robert Ford Jr., in Portland in July of 2012.

Hardy refused to stop for officers, turning East onto Sunnyside Road at speeds up to 75 MPH. Shortly after Clackamas County Deputies entered the pursuit, Hardy lost control of his car and crashed into a pole at Misty Drive.

Hardy was transported to Willamette Falls Hospital for treatment of minor injuries received in the crash. He was then lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on charges of Eluding Police, Reckless Driving, DUII, Driving While Suspended - Misdemeanor, as well as a probation violation warrant out of Douglas County for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Bail on the local charges was set at $37,500.
