###

Shortly before 5:00pm Firefighters were called to a report of a residential fire with a person trapped at 3830 SE Adams St. in Milwaukie. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the house and were told by the home owner that his wife was still inside, unable to get out. Firefighters went into "Rescue Mode," to quickly search the home at which point they located the victim in a back bedroom. Crews were able to remove the victim from the back bedroom and out to a side lawn where medical care was rendered. The victim was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

The house fire was initially noticed by a child returning from school who alerted his father that the neighbors house was on fire. The neighbor then called 911 to report the incident.
Fire Investigators are on scene and have determined that this fire was caused by cooking and combustibles too close to the stove. Damage amounts are not available at this time. Clackamas Fire would like to remind people to ensure that the work space around the stove is clear and to never leave combustible material on the stove.
