Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of Deschutes County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), arrested a 51-year old man following an alcohol-involved injury hit & run crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 20E east of Bend.

On October 23, 2014 at approximately 4:00 p.m., OSP was notified of a possible injury hit & run crash on Highway 20E near milepost 5. While enroute, witnesses followed the suspect vehicle, a GMC van, from the scene until DCSO deputies located and stopped it at Alfalfa Market Road and Todd Road.

The GMC van driven by BRIAN L. WHITE, age 51, from Bend, attempted to make a U-turn from the westbound shoulder as a westbound Chevrolet pickup driven by JAMES FLOYD, age 63, from Bend, was approaching and struck the pickup's passenger side.

WHITE stopped momentarily at the scene and then drove away until stopped by DCSO deputies.

FLOYD was transported by ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with a non-life threatening injury.

Subsequent investigation led OSP to arrest WHITE for Assault in the Third Degree, Felony Hit & Run, DUII, Reckless Driving, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. WHITE was also cited for Refusing a Breath Test and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail.
