August 23, 2014--Deputies arrest two DUII drivers. One driver crashed, shearing a power pole and another drove through the crash scene and was stopped by the deputies as they were investigating the crash.
On August 22, 2014, at about 11:13 p.m., multiple Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of SW Scholls Ferry Road west of SW Clark Hill Road in the community of Scholls, concerning a report of a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole. The driver was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle as the grass caught fire.
Deputies arrived on scene and found a power pole had been sheared into three pieces and the grass fire was extinguished. Deputies located a 2013 Scion XD, with severe front end damage, had left the roadway, traveled 150 feet prior to striking the pole and then continued an additional 300 feet before stopping. Power lines were down and the road was closed for three hours to replace the power pole and repair the wires.
Deputies contacted the driver, Javier Martinez-Becerril, 35, from Beaverton and based on their observations, began a DUII investigation. Medical personnel transported Mr. Martinez-Becerril to a local hospital for observation due to the severity of the crash. He was issued citations for DUII and Criminal Mischief.
While Sheriff's Deputies were investigating the crash, at 1:13 a.m., a 2014 Ford Focus drove around the barricade that was closing the road. The Focus driver was identified as Keith E. Fuller, 28, from Eugene (booking photo attached). He was arrested for DUII and lodged in the Washington County Jail.
Every year, the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrests over 1000 drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and have a designated driver arranged before they consume alcohol.
