PORTLAND FIRE & RESCUE RESPONDS TO AN APARTMENT FIRE (1534 NE 72ND AVE)

This evening a 6:52 pm Portland Firefighters were called to an apartment building at 1534 NE 72nd Avenue. Callers reported heavy smoke from a basement window with an occupant still inside. Firefighters from Station 19 arrived and found smoke and fire from a basement apartment. The apartments occupant was standing outside.

Firefighters began attacking the fire and treating the adult male occupant for fire related issues. The man was transported to Emanuel for treatment and further evaluation. The main fire was extinguished and firefighters began searching for hidden hot spots.

A Fire Investigator was called to determine the fires cause and to estimate damages. This information will be provided when it's available. If photo's become available this release will be updated to include them. Portland Fire & Rescue reminds the public to get out, stay out and call 911 during a fire.
