This morning at 6:00 am Portland Firefighters were called to 205 SE Grand Ave. When firefighters from Station 21 Eastbank/Hawthorne arrived they found dark smoke and fire on the West side of the three story mixed use building. The fire extended from the basement to the top floor and was running through void spaces and inside walls.

Firefighters began fighting the fire and working to evacuate residents who lived in the apartments that occupy the top floor. The residents were successfully evacuated and no injuries were associated with this fire. The remainder of the building is made up of various businesses and firefighters worked to protect and salvage contents. During the fire fight, crews encountered energized electrical lines and called the power company. The fire temporarily closed SE Grand Avenue and SE MLK Blvd near SE Ash Street.

Fire Investigators are on scene working to determine the cause of this fire, they will also provide a preliminary damage estimate.
