The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division from the Coos Bay office is asking for the public's help in locating the person(s) responsible for the unlawful killing and waste of a cow elk found on Buck Ridge Road in the Elliott State Forest in Coos County.

On August 11, 2014, OSP Fish & Wildlife Trooper Ryan Keeler began an investigation following the discovery of a dead cow elk located by bear hunters in a clear cut on Buck Ridge Road in the Elliott State Forest. Evidence at the scene indicates the cow elk was shot once through the front shoulder within the last couple days. Whoever shot the elk did not remove any meat and left it to waste.

A reward is being offered through the Turn in Poachers (TIP) Program, administered through the Oregon Hunters Association, for any information that leads to the arrest in this case. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Trooper Keeler at (541) 888-2677 ext. 243, or the TIP hotline at 1-800-452-7888. Information may be kept anonymous.
