Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle recently received the Mayor's Leadership Award - Award of Merit during the Oregon Mayor's Association (OMA) Summer Conference in Pendleton.

The Mayor's Leadership Award was established in 1993 to recognize the contributions Mayors throughout Oregon make to their communities each year. The selection committee takes into account a Mayor's leadership qualities and how their actions contribute to the city and community as a whole. They look at the Mayor's involvement with community affairs, their ability to facilitate relationships between the governing body and city employees, as well as how they help other Mayors reach their full potential.

Mayor Doyle has been an elected official at the City of Beaverton since 1995. He first started on City Council and became Mayor in 2009. During his terms he has established a reputation for being a great regional collaborator and champion. He has served on the Greater Portland Inc. Board of Directors, Metro's Joint Policy Advisory Committee on Transportation (JPACT), the Metropolitan Planning Advisory Committee (MPAC), as well as many other regional activities.

Most recently, Mayor Doyle worked to get Google Fiber to consider our region.

"Mayor Doyle's commitment to this process has helped me understand how lucky his constituents are to have him as their mayor," said Portland Mayor Charlie Hales in his response to the work Mayor Doyle has done to bring Google Fiber to Portland, Beaverton and four other regions.

Mayor Doyle actively supports education funding and has worked directly with Portland Community College to help establish its Future Connect Program in Beaverton, which gives scholarships to youth. He has also worked directly with Washington D.C. to bring resources to the region to address transportation issues.

"Mayor Doyle is very passionate about his work," said Kevin Toon, communications and marketing manager from the League of Oregon Cities. "He brings great energy and focus to finding solutions that not only benefit his city but other community leaders around him."
