Linn County District Attorney Doug Marteeny announced the filing of charges against Jeff Randall Lanz, age 39, for six counts each of Official Misconduct in the First Degree (class A misdemeanor) and Theft in the Third Degree (class C misdemeanor). The six counts are related to alleged crimes involving the fueling of a personal vehicle using the Department issued fuel card between October 8, 2013 and April 14, 2014. A court appearance will be coordinated by the District Attorney's office and the attorney representing Lanz.

On April 29, 2014, OSP placed Lanz on paid administrative leave from his captain's position as head of the Office of Professional Standards. A criminal investigation was initiated by an OSP major from outside the Salem area which was forwarded and reviewed by Senior Deputy District Attorney George Eder.

Lanz joined OSP in January 1999. In July 2011, he was appointed to be director of the Office of Professional Standards and was promoted to Captain July 1, 2012. The Office of Professional Standards has four major components: risk management, internal investigations, human resources, and training.

Questions regarding pending court matters in this case should be directed to Linn County District Attorney's Office at (541) 967-3836.
