RELEASE DATE: Nov. 27, 2013
CONTACT PERSON: Detective John Rasmussen
Case Numbers: 13-712673
Gresham, Ore. - Gresham Police want to talk with anyone who has information about the recent burglary of the Polar King restaurant, 1030 E. Powell Blvd., Gresham. Detectives say an unidentified person broke into the restaurant via the building's ventilation system, causing approximately $1,450 in damage. The burglary happened sometime between the late night hours of Nov. 17 and early morning hours of Nov. 18.
Employees arriving for work around 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 noticed unique damage to the inside of the building that suggested someone broke through the building's ductwork. Officers searched the building but did not find anyone there.
The investigation confirmed the ventilation system was severely damaged and appeared as though the suspect fell through the sheet metal ductwork and onto a metal sink, bending it. A considerable amount of blood was found around the broken metal, suggesting the suspect may have been significantly cut as a result of the fall. It does not appear anything was taken from the restaurant.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Gresham Police tip line at 503-618-2719 (local) or 888-989-3505 (out of area).
