Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Friday afternoon's two-vehicle serious injury traffic crash that occurred on Highway 20 east of Toledo. One person was seriously injured in the crash that blocked the highway for about 3 hours.
According to Sergeant Cari Boyd, on April 19, 2013 at approximately 2:45 p.m., a 2013 Kenworth truck pulling a tanker trailer driven by TRACY L. MOE, age 46, from Lebanon, was westbound on Highway 20 near milepost 30 when an eastbound 2007 Toyota sport utility vehicle crossed the centerline. Despite attempts by MOE to steer to the right in an attempt to avoid the Toyota, both vehicles collided nearly head-on. After impact, the Toyota spun around and came to rest across the westbound lanes.
The Toyota's driver, WILLIAM STUBBLEFIELD, age 57, from Albany, was extricated from his vehicle by Toledo Fire Department firefighters and transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. He was later cited to appear for Failure to Drive Within a Traffic Lane.
MOE was not injured.
Both drivers were using safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Newport Area Command are investigating. Trooper Michael Hansen is the lead investigator.
Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Toledo Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.
