Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Wednesday afternoon's traffic crash that resulted in the death of an adult female along Highway 20 about three miles west of Sweet Home. Two others in the victim's car received minor injuries not requiring transport to a hospital. Names of the three occupants in the victims' vehicle will be released Thursday morning.

Preliminary investigation indicates on April 24, 2013 at approximately 5:04 p.m., the victim was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala westbound on Highway 20 approaching the intersection with Dew Road near milepost 24. The Chevrolet pulled into a left turn lane and, without stopping, turned left directly in front of an eastbound 1997 Audi driven by TYRELL RANKIN, age 19, from Lebanon. The vehicles collided head-on and came to rest off the side of the highway.

The victim was transported by ground ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased upon arrival. Two other occupants in her vehicle, her 32-year old son and 10-year old grandson, received minor injuries not requiring transport to the hospital.

The Audi's driver and passenger, KYLE W. RANKIN, age 21, from Lebanon, were not injured.

All involved occupants were using safety restraints and both vehicles' airbags deployed.

OSP troopers from the Albany and Springfield offices were involved with the scene investigation. Trooper Don Rummer is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Sweet Home Fire & Ambulance District and ODOT. The highway partially blocked for about two hours with minimal impact to traffic.
