On February 27, 2013 the Clackamas County Sheriff's responded to the report of a lost snowboarder from the Ski Bowl ski resort on Mt Hood. The initial call was received about 3:45 pm.

Cody Johnson, 17, of Gresham called some friends who initially contacted Timberline Lodge and then spoke with Ski Bowl's ski patrol. Ski Bowl deployed resources which included their ski patrol and a tracked vehicle known as a snowcat to look for Cody.

Cody was instructed to call 911 so his location could be obtained through gps coordinates. Search and recue coordinators from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office responded to the area. Deputies relayed the gps coordinates to the ski patrol to assist with their search.

Cody was located at approximately 7:30 pm by the ski patrol and brought back to the parking lot by snowcat. Paramedics from AMR were standing by and assessed Cody's condition. Cody was not injured and after consulting with his parents he was release.

During the search an initial investigation revealed Cody had snowboarded in an area marked "out-of-bounds" with posted signs. As people enjoy mountain recreation we would ask that they be cognizant of markers and stay in the designated areas.
