An Oregon State Police (OSP) investigation following a single vehicle injury crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon along Highway 224 near Barton west of SE Bakers Ferry Road resulted in a male driver being cited on three charges after he left the crash scene leaving behind an injured female passenger. With the help of a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) K-9, the man was found two hours later and both he and the female passenger were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
On January 8, 2013 at approximately 5:50 p.m., a 2007 Honda Civic with two occupants was involved in a collision with a PGE pole along Highway 224 near milepost 14. OSP, CCSO and Boring Fire District responded to the crash and found a female trapped in the car. She told emergency responders the male driver left the scene toward a nearby creek so police searched the area with the help of a CCSO K-9.
About two hours later, the male driver was found west of the crash scene along Highway 224 near SE 232nd Avenue. ERIK B. SHARP, age 36, from Oregon City, was taken by ambulance to Mt. Hood Medical Center. Subsequent investigation led OSP to cite SHARP to appear in Clackamas County Circuit Court for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Hit & Run.
The woman passenger, JODIE A. CLARK, age 38, from Arizona, was extricated from the car by Boring Fire Department and and taken by AMR ambulance to Mt. Hood Medical Center. She was treated and released.
PGE personnel responded to the scene to repair the damaged pole.
Trooper Jose Cortez is the lead investigator.
