Highway 20 near the Malheur / Harney County line was blocked for over two hours Tuesday morning by an overturned commercial truck and trailer following a non-injury traffic crash. Oregon State Police (OSP) is investigating.
According to Sergeant Brian Williams, on January 8, 2013 at approximately 8:30 a.m., a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer loaded with beer was traveling downhill westbound on Highway 20 near milepost 181 negotiating a left curve. The driver lost control on the ice-covered road and traveled off the right shoulder where the truck and trailer overturned onto their side across the highway.
The driver, FREDERICK STADEL, age 27, from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was using safety restraints and was not injured. He was driving for CR England Trucking Company.
The highway was blocked for over two hours and was to remain closed to one lane while ODOT coordinates vehicle and load recovery.
Senior Trooper Tim Thomas is the lead investigator. No citations issued.
