VANCOUVER POLICE SEEK INFORMATION AFTER BODY OF KAYAKER IS LOCATED IN COLUMBIA RIVER
Posted: December 28th, 2012 1:18 PM
On December 28, 2012 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Vancouver Police and Fire personnel responded to the 11900 block of SE Evergreen Hwy for the report of a body in the Columbia River, which was spotted by personnel from the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife who had a boat in the area.
The victim appears to be an Asian female in her early 50's who was dressed in outdoor clothing and wearing a floatation device. No identification was located.
Clark and Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and Vancouver Fire boats began checking the area and located a kayak on the eastern tip of Government Island that was unoccupied. It appeared the kayak had previously possibly contained two passengers.
The Vancouver Police Department is requesting information from the public to determine if another individual is possibly missing and affiliated with the kayak.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Vancouver Police Major Crimes Sgt. Scott Creager at (360) 487-7424.
