Klamath County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue (SAR) personnel continued searching a forested area Monday about 8 miles north of Keno in Klamath County after a vehicle associated with a missing person was found Sunday parked abandoned on a spur road off Clover Creek Road. Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives believe the vehicle had been abandoned at that location since December 12 when a retired OSP trooper notified OSP after media began reporting about the missing man and his vehicle.

According to Klamath County Sheriff Tim Evinger, SAR resources and OSP detectives returned to the area Monday morning, December 24, and resumed searching for ROBERT LEAR, age 39, from Klamath Falls, who was reported missing to OSP by family members on December 20 after they last heard from him nine days earlier.

Evinger reported SAR resources today include 6 searchers, four of whom are out on snowshoes; two K9 handlers with dogs from Jackson County Sheriff's Office; and, two OSP detectives. On Sunday, SAR resources included 9 searchers, seven of whom were on snowshoes, a Klamath County search manager, and the OSP detectives. Searches have been working in the area in which recent snowfall accumulations have reach 2 to 3 feet. A decision to continue searching the area will be made later today.

LEAR is described as 5'11", approximately 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. A picture of a similar looking vehicle was provided with the news release.

Anyone with knowledge of LEAR's current location is asked to call the OSP Southern Command Center at (541) 883-5711. Anyone with information that may be helpful in locating LEAR is asked to contact Detective Dennis Yaws or Sergeant Bob Fenner at OSP's Klamath Falls Area Command office at (541) 883-5713.
