Fire crews were dispatched to a house fire (5815 S.E. Ramona)at 11:06 pm last night. Station 25 (Woodstock) arrived to "smoke and flames coming from the chimney". After verifying that all of the occupants were out of the house, firefighters worked their way to the fire and extinguished it. Getting to the fire was difficult because the house was filled with various items so space was limited. Fire crews had to move things out of the home just to have a path to get to the fire.
Engine 11 (Lents) and Engine 9 (Hawthorne) also also assisted with securing a water supply, removing smoke from the home, and making sure that the fire didn't spread to the roof. Firefighters also had to remove the security bars from the home upon arrival as these tend to trap emergency workers inside.
Fire Investigators have determined that faulty electrical wiring started the blaze and caused about $10,000 in damages.
