Speeder Eludes in vehilce but is captured later with drugs in his possession near Central Point (Photos)

SPEEDER ELUDES IN VEHILCE BUT IS CAPTURED LATER WITH DRUGS IN HIS POSSESSION NEAR CENTRAL POINT (PHOTOS)

Oregon State Police apprehended a wanted man that had previously eluded them and other agencies in his vehicle. He was later located while he was on foot near Highway 99N and Savage Creek Rd in Jackson County.

According the Oregon State Police Tpr. Jessica Hall from the Central Point Area Command, The suspect - TY WHITTEN, age 49 - was observed driving a 1998 green Toyota Camry at 81 mph in a 45 mph zone on Hwy 99N. Tpr. Hall attempted to stop the suspect; however, he failed to yield to her and accelerated away at speeds over 100 mph. The suspect vehicle was lost near I-5 at the MP 45 interchange. Shortly thereafter, the Camry was located abandoned on a dead end road near I-5. With the assistance of other Oregon State Police Troopers and Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies the suspect was located about 20 minutes later walking through a wooded neighborhood.

WHITTEN was arrested without incident. WHITTEN was found to be in possession of several pounds of marijuana, several grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. WHITTEN also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Josephine and Jackson Counties. Earlier this same day, the suspect had successfully eluded Grants Pass Department of Public Safety.

Mr. Whitton was lodged into the Jackson County Jail on the following charges:
Attempt to Elude - Vehicle
Manufacturing, Delivery and Possession of Marijuana
Manufacturing, Delivery and Possession of Methamphetamine
Felon in Possession of Restricted Weapon
and
Carrying a Concealed Weapon

Grants Pass Department of Public Safety also has pending charges for Elude and Manufacturing and Delivery - Methamphetamine.
