Double Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 101 north of North Bend

DOUBLE FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH - HIGHWAY 101 NORTH OF NORTH BEND

Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into a late Tuesday night single vehicle crash along Highway 101 about 5 miles north of North Bend, Oregon, which resulted in the death of both of the vehicle's occupants and a dog. The victims' names will be released after their next of kin have been notified.

According to Oregon State Police Sgt. Josh Young of the Coos Bay Area Command, at approximately 11:20 p.m. a 1993 Ford Ranger pickup driven by a male was northbound on Hwy 101 at MP 227.5 when for an unknown reason it crossed over to the southbound lanes and then left the highway and proceeded northbound down the southbound shoulder where it eventually rolled onto its passenger side and caught fire. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash along with a pet dog.

OSP Troopers from the Coos Bay Area Command are continuing their investigaion into the cause of the crash. Additionally, it is unknown at this time if the occupants were using safety restraints. The identities of the driver and passenger along with photographs of the crash will be released upon the next of kin being notified.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Coos Co. Sheriff's Office, North Bend Police Dept., Hauser Fire Dept., Lakeside Fire Dept., Bay City Ambulance, OSP Roseburg and ODOT
