Pacific Power customers in Imnaha will experience brief, controlled outages on Oct. 22, 23
Large mobile generator will keep lights on while Idaho Power line is out

IMNAHA, Ore.-Approximately 200 Pacific Power customers in and around Imnaha, Ore., will experience a two-hour electricity outage on Monday, Oct. 22, and then another on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The brief electric service interruptions will occur while Pacific Power crews safely connect a generator to the local electric system to serve customers while an Idaho Power transmission line is repaired. Then, after Idaho Power's work is complete, power will be out again as crews disconnect the generator.

The first interruption will be from 7:30 a.m., until approximately 9:30 a.m Oct. 22. The second interruption will be from approximately 4 p.m.until 6 p.m. Oct. 23.

Idaho Power will be performing repairs on its own high-voltage transmission line that connects with Pacific Power lines to serve the area. Those repairs will take two full days to complete and Pacific Power was not willing to subject its customers to a 48-hour power outage.

"A two-day outage for our customers is simply not acceptable to us," said Bill Clemens, Pacific Power community manager. "To minimize the impact on our customers, Pacific Power is transporting a large, mobile generator to Imnaha to serve the community while the Idaho Power line is out of service. "

"We never want our customers to be inconvenienced, even though it happens from time to time, but this would have been too much to ask. Putting this generator to good use will help minimize what would have otherwise been a highly extended outage," said Clemens. "Dave O'Neill, our area distribution manager, his crews and our operations staff did a really good job of creating a solution for our customers."

All Pacific Power customers whose service will be affected are being notified individually about the interruptions and reminded to unplug any sensitive electronics during the outages, as a precaution.

Customers with questions can call Pacific Power toll free at 1-888-221-7070. Any outages outside the affected area should to be reported to Pacific Power at 1-877-508-5088.
