A commercial truck driver was cited by Oregon State Police (OSP) following Monday afternoon's minor injury crash along Interstate 5 northbound at the Interstate 205 junction. The crash partially blocked the northbound lanes for over 3 hours.

According to Trooper Tracy Clark, on October 1, 2012 at approximately 12:15 p.m., a sport utility vehicle (SUV) was slowing for traffic in the far right northbound lane of Interstate 5 near milepost 289. A sewer truck trailing the SUV was also slowing when it was struck from behind by a 2008 International truck pulling a semi-trailer. After impact, the truck and semi-trailer veered left across the northbound lanes before coming to rest in the center median and left and center traffic lanes. The sewer truck was pushed forward into the back of the SUV.

The impact caused approximately 300 gallons of sewer waste to spill onto the roadway. ODOT coordinated scene response and cleanup of the sewer waste.

The driver of the sewer truck and SUV had possible minor injury but didn't go to a hospital.

The commercial truck's driver, DAVID V. TOWNS, age 44, from Fresno, California, was not injured. He was driving for Kiwi Transport. OSP cited TOWNS for Following Too Close.

OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
