INJURY TRAFFIC CRASH - HIGHWAY 36 EAST OF CHESHIRE

Four people were injured Monday afternoon during a two-car collision on Highway 36 at Dorsey Lane two miles east of Cheshire. Oregon State Police (OSP) Troopers from the Springfield Area Command completed the investigation.
On October 1, 2012 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Volkswagen Passat driven by CAITLIN PACKETT, age 20, from Veneta, was southbound on Dorsey Lane stopped at the stop sign at Highway 36. PACKETT drove southbound through the intersection and was struck by a westbound Toyota Camry driven by HEATHER OLSON, age 40, from Eugene. After the collision, the Passat came to rest in the ditch on the southwest corner of the intersection and the Camry came to rest blocking the eastbound lane of Highway 36.
PACKETT and passenger JAIME MIKILAS, age 18, from Veneta, received minor injuries and were evaluated and released at the scene.
OLSON was transported by medics to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend with non-life threatening injuries. A 12 year-old passenger in OLSON's vehicle had minor injuries and was released to family members.
PACKETT was not wearing safety restraints. All others involved were using safety restraints. Side impact airbag deployed on the Passat and front-end airbags deployed on the Camry.
PACKETT was cited for Fail to Obey a Traffic Control Device - Stop Sign and Failure to Use Seatbelt. OLSON was cited for No Operator's License.
OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT and Lane Rural Fire Department.
