Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire this afternoon (3:36 pm) at 2204 S.E. 60th ave and arrived to smoke coming from the side of the house. Engine 9 (Hawthorne), Engine 19 (Mt. Tabor), Engine 21 (Hawthorne Bridge), and Station 25 (Woodstock) responded. Fire crews had to extinguish the fire from the crawl space as well as in the attic. Truck crews had to open up the walls to ensure that the fire did not spread and was completely out. No one was home at the time of the incident and there were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and damage is estimated at 10,000. Photos are courtesy of Dick Harris (PF&R).
