Posted: September 28th, 2012 12:35 PM

Fire crews were dispatched to a residential fire this morning (9:23) at 6828 N. Greeley ave. Initial reports were that the garage was on fire and that the residents were attempting to put it out. Station 8 (Kenton) arrived to the garage being fully ablaze and quickly went into rescue mode while simultaneously extinguishing the fire. Station 24 (Swan Island), Station 26 (Portsmouth) and Station 14 (Vernon) also responded to the fire to assist.

No one was injured during this incident, however, Portland Fire & Rescue would like to remind all to call 911 immediately in the event of a fire.... then get out and stay out. Do not go back inside to retrieve items as this may cause you to be a victim.

The fire did not extend to home and damage is estimated at $30,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
