GOOD SAMARITAN RESCUES WOMAN FROM SMOKE FILLED HOUSE
Posted: September 26th, 2012 7:47 PM
Shortly after 1800 this evening Clackamas Fire crews were dispatched to a residential fire in the 400 block of Telford Rd in Oregon City. Fire Crews arrived to find light smoke from the structure with one female outside covered in soot. The fire had been extinguished by a man who was walking by handing out political literature and noticed smoke from the building and heard the smoke alarm going off.
The good samaritan reported heavy smoke in the residence and heard someone yelling for help from an upstairs bedroom. The good samaritan was able to crawl low under the smoke, gain access to the woman who was calling for help and escort her outside. Before exiting the structure the good samaritan noticed a couch snd bird cage to be actively on fire. After escorting the woman from the building he quickly grabbed a garden hose and was able to extinguish the fire prior to it spreading to the rest of the room. First arriving fire crews believe the damage caused by the fire would have been far worse had the good samaritan not intervened. One woman was transported to an area hospital with smoke inhalation.
Clackamas Fire would like to remind people that when your smoke alarm is going off or if there is smoke in your home to quickly evacuate the building and call 911.
