This afternoon, Washington County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a single plane crash at a private runway in rural Washington County. The pilot was the only person on board and he was not injured.

On Sunday August 19, 2012 at 1:26pm, Washington County Deputies responded to Twin Oaks Air Park located 12405 SW River Road. Upon arrival deputies made contact with the pilot, 61-year-old David R. Zaayer of Portland. He told deputies he was the single occupant, just out practicing, when he was making a southbound approach to the runaway at about 45-50knots. He came in and the tail got too high, his prop hit the runway and his plane flipped over. Mr. Zaaver was not injured in the crash.
The FAA was notified and sent two investigators to the scene. The incident occurred at the Twin Oaks Airport. This is a private airstrip that operates on visual flight rules meaning it is uncontrolled. The aircraft is a 1947 Luscombe 8E.
