SERIOUS INJURY CRASH - HIGHWAY 26 EAST OF MADRAS

One person was critically injured Wednesday afternoon in a traffic crash between a passenger car and a commercial truck on Highway 26 between Madras and Prineville.
According to Senior Trooper Jed Rzegocki, on August 15, 2012 at approximately 2:08 p.m., a 1990 Subaru wagon driven by TIMOTHY CHILDRESS, age 20, from Redmond, was eastbound on Highway 26 near milepost 11 when his car crossed the centerline and collided with the side of a westbound commercial trailer being pulled by a truck driven by DIRK GRAVES, age 57, from Bend.
CHILDRESS was transported by air ambulance to St. Charles Hospital in Bend with critical injuries. CHILDRESS was driving with a suspended license. GRAVES was uninjured. Both operators were using safety restraints.
The highway was closed to one lane of traffic for approximately 3 hours while troopers investigated at the scene.
Senior Trooper Jed Rzegocki is the lead investigator. No citations have been issued.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County EMS, Jefferson County Fire Department, and ODOT.
