PRELIMINARY INFORMATION - FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH - HIGHWAY 228 EAST OF BROWNSVILLE

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation into Wednesday morning's fatal traffic crash on Highway 228 about three miles east of Brownsville that resulted in the death of one person and injuries to a second driver. OSP is seeking a witness to the crash that was being passed by the offending vehicle prior to the crash occurring.
According to Lieutenant Dave Mazour, on August 15, 2012 at approximately 10:40 a.m. a pickup driven by an adult male was westbound on Highway 228 near milepost 9 passing an unidentiifed witness on a curve when it crashed head-on with a passenger car driven by a female victim.
OSP would like to speak to the witness being passed by the pickup. This witness can call OSP at (541) 967-2026.
No other information for release at this time. Highway 228 is still blocked with a detour in place.
