Beaverton Celebration Parade Travels New Route Through Beaverton on September 8

The city's 55th annual Beaverton Celebration Parade will follow a new route on Saturday, Sept. 8 starting at 10 a.m.

The parade begins at the corner of SW Wilson Avenue and Allen Boulevard. It then takes SW Erickson Avenue to 5th Street, passing by the Beaverton City Library. The parade ends at Griffith Park near Beaverton City Hall.

This year's grand marshals will be local Olympians, including Mariel Zagunis, a two-time gold medalist fencer and team USA's opening ceremonies flag bearer. The Beaverton Celebration Parade features floats, award-winning marching bands, mascots and more. The parade them is The Many Faces of Beaverton, which was created by Beaverton resident Laurette McGee.

The Beaverton Celebration Parade began in 1957 and has since grown into a community tradition. Previous parade themes have included Catch the Spirit, Everything is Golden, Community Pride...City Wide, Dancing in the Streets and A Vision of the Future.
