On Tuesday July 10th, 2012 at approximately 7:40 p.m., a 48 year old highway worker was struck and killed while putting up signs warning of road construction near Canby.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputies and the Canby Police Department responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on South New Era Road near S Haines Rd in Canby.
Canby Fire Department personnel arrived and worked to resuscitate the man. He was flown by Life Flight to Emmanuel Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The identity of the worker is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The driver of the car, Bruce Dancer from Lake Oswego was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.
There are no known witnesses to this Crash and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help. If anyone saw the accident please contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office's confidential Tip Line -- by phone at 503-723-4949, or by using the online e-mail form.
