ODOT: PDX, Mt. Hood: Wet weather has forced ODOT to CANCEL the planned weekend closure of I-5 southbound between the Fremont and Marquam Bridges this weekend. The polymer concrete being applied in this mile-long section of old freeway is very sensitive to moisture. The continuing rain jeopardizes the polymer's ability to bond appropriately by Monday morning when traffic would resume on the highway. So the weekend work and closure is cancelled.
Weather permitting, ODOT plans to close I-5 southbound NEXT weekend (11 p.m. Friday July 27 to 5 a.m. Monday July 30), to continue the repairs to this section of I-5.
