A New Mexico man was arrested Friday afternoon by Oregon State Police (OSP) on several traffic-related charges after motorists boxed in the man's disabled car on Interstate 84 near Cascade Locks.
According to Sergeant Julie Wilcox, on July 13, 2012 at approximately 3:45 p.m. several driving complaints were reported about a white 2010 Jeep Patriot displaying New Mexico license plates eastbound on Interstate 84 starting near Dodson around milepost 35. The complaints indicated the vehicle was damaged after hitting a guardrail but continued traveling erratically eastbound until it stopped on the inside shoulder near milepost 46 with both left side tires flat.
Four motorists boxed the vehicle in to prevent it from leaving the scene until OSP troopers arrived at 4:12 p.m.
Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of JOHN M. CLEGG, age 25, from New Mexico, for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Perform Duties of a Driver in a Property Damage Accident. He was lodged at the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility (NORCOR).
