Milwaukie Police to Lead Local Leg of Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run

On Friday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. police motorcycle escorts will lead the Clackamas County leg of the Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run from the Milwaukie River Front Park through Oregon City, West Linn, and Lake Oswego. Motors from Milwaukie PD, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, West Linn, and Lake Oswego will temporarily block intersections along the route to protect the runners.

Milwaukie Police Chief Bob Jordan, Officer Clare Burnum, and 30 other law enforcement officers from various agencies in Clackamas County will lead this leg of the torch run, followed by lots of special athletes.

State Representative Carolyn Tomei will be present for the launch, and Lake Oswego P.D. will be hosting a 1930s vintage open-air bus from Yellowstone Park as one of two 'sag' escort wagons. When runners need to rest, they can hop the Yellowstone Park bus along the route.

The Clackamas County leg of the Torch Run will start at the Milwaukie River Front Park, meander through Eagle Park along the waterfront, and continue onto River Road. Runners will travel River Road through Oak Grove and Gladstone to Oregon City. The Torch Run will continue through West Linn to Lake Oswego. #######
