Shortly before 7:00pm this evening a 54 year old man was rescued by Clackamas Fire's Technical Rope Rescue Team after falling 20 feet down a steep hillside. The man was reportedly playing with his dog near the edge of the hillside when he lost his balance and fell, landing at the bottom of a ravine. The incident, reported by the patients neighbor occurred at 12746 SE 110th Ct. in Clackamas.

First arriving Clackamas Fire crews gained access to the patient and determined that the rope rescue team would be needed to extricate the patient from his location in the ravine. Shortly after arriving, the technical rescue team secured the patient to a backboard and assembled a "Low Angle Haul system," which secures the patient to a series of ropes and allows crews to safely haul him to the top of the hill. The patient was transported by American Medical Response (AMR) to Portland Adventist Medical Center in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Clackamas Fire would like to remind people to be aware of their surroundings and keep well away from the edges of steep hillsides and cliffs as accidental falls do happen.
