On Tuesday July 10th, 2012 at approximately 7:40 p.m., a 48 year old highway worker, identified as Gregory Priest of Salem, Oregon was struck and killed while putting up signs warning of road construction near Canby.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputies and the Canby Police Department responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on South New Era Road near S Haines Rd in Canby.

Canby Fire Department personnel arrived and worked to resuscitate the man. He was flown by Life Flight to Emanuel Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, Bruce Dancer, age 40, of Aurora, Oregon was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

There are no known witnesses to this crash and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help. If anyone saw the accident please contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office's confidential Tip Line -- by phone at 503-723-4949, or by using the online e-mail form.
